Do You Trust Allah?
Via Omar Suleiman visit in San Antonio
Tawwakul is having trust in Allah but not only when something big happens, in all instances. If you look at our communities today, the idea of tawwakul only surfaces when something big happens. But if we don’t trust Allah in the little things that happen in our life, how are we expected to trust Allah when we are greatly tested? It is like telling someone trying to lose weight to pick up 500 lbs on their first workout.
There are no coincidences, everything happens for a reason. Everything that occurs in our life is supposed to happen and the only one in control of this is Allah. Ibn Qiyaam said that “Whoever trusts Allah and has tawwakul, that is enough for him.” When you rely on Allah, you will not worry about the “whys” and “ifs” of your life but be satisfied with what has occurred and know that it happened for a reason. The more and more we question what occurs in our life, the more we will be unsatisfied and discontented with our lives.
There are three levels of trust:
1) Trust Allah like you would trust a business agent/partner- everything is great in this level of trust until something happens. Alhamduiallah you love your business partner until something happens. Let’s say you are in Hajj and all of a sudden you check your bank account and two thousand dollars are missing, who are you going to blame? You would immediately confront this guy, and question him. When we have this trust in Allah, alhamduiallah we are “cool” when everything is going our way but as soon as something hits, as soon as we are being tested, we are questioning Allah, “WHY?” In this level of trust, we try to dictate the trust.
2) Trust Allah like a child trust his mother – The way a child trust a mother is extremely jaw dropping. When a father disciplines his child, the child will run to his mother and when the mother disciplines his child, the child runs to his mother because the child knows that the greatest source of comfort is his mother. When we have trust in Allah, we know that Allah is the greatest source of comfort and when something goes wrong in our lives, we ponder what we have done to make Allah angry.
3) Trust Allah like a dead body trusts its washer – The dead body has no control over anything. With this trust we know that we control nothing and Allah is in control of everything.

7 Perkara Yang Wajib Kita Ingati
